Pink floyd's time
Pink floyd created a new genre in rock called psychadelic. It is a fact that some of the band members (especially Syd Barett) were drug addicts and it reflects in the feel their songs produce. While listening it feels like they all just picked up their instruments and started playing whatever they felt like playing.
But one thing about pink floyd songs is undeniable, that is their lyrics.
The poetry and use of fantastic vocabulary alongwith great metaphors is fantastic. Here's an example. Its pink floyd's "Time"

You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way

The subtlety of their lyrics has never been achieved by any other band. Of course most people don't care about lyrics while listening to rock music. Beatles are no.1 example of ordinary and childish lyrics. But they made it big time.
