शांघाई ट्रिप एप्रिल 2008

I've been fairly busy all week here in shanghai..The manufacturing plant here is very new.. We're learning a lot of stuff about manufacturability,tolrances, metals,machinability,manufacturing planning, routing, programming of 4 axis,5 axis CNCs, forecasting, testing (for pressure and corrosion), assembly, inspection and QA,etc.. Noticeable thing about the plant is sex ratio...a lot of blue collar women workers in all departments..thats every where in the city.. You'll see more women on the streets than men,.

Now let me tell u abt shanghai... It is just a bigger version of Mumbai... 4X in terms of infrastructure, 2X in terms of cost, 1.5X in terms of population.... baki sagale same.. same street stalls, same bhikaris, same dalaals, palika bazaarlike underground shops where every shop sells the same tshirts...same bargaining... Hardly anyone speaks english here..which is very hard..

There are skyscrapers in abundance. one part of the city near the river is comparable with queens necklace in mumbai.. We went to the tallest tower in asia which is 353 meters high... the view from up there is unreal...I'll upload pics asap..

The mayfair hotel is very nice.. I live on 31st floor..view from there is beautiful..i m doing full maaz.. i gave my underwear for laundry (for 16 yuan =95 rupees :) )

Metro system here is identical to the one in Delhi and equally convinient.. Amchya hotel chya khalich metro station asalya mule kuthehi firana soppa ahe.. the ticket for metro is 3/4/5 yuan (5.65 rs=1 yuan).. maglev is magnetic levitation train from airport to the city which runs at 431 kmph... 30 km 8 mins..superfast

The prosperous part of town is filled with KFC, burger king, McDonalds,pizza hut, papa john's etc....

Every 100 ft u'll find one of these.. The malls are superhuge and extreeeemely boring.a shops like levi's ,pepe,and all such regular expensive shops.Most of the shops are for women and very costly...not unlike mumbai malls.. All the metro stations have mall underground called Metro town..,

We'll be going to old shanghai on satruday.. im not really interested but might be able to buy some souvenirs..

The food is very weird so i've kept away from eating chinese in evenings...we stick to McD or kfc...but for lunch we eat the weird chinese lunch they have here in office... but its quite eatable॥ though not as good as indian chinese ;)
